REVIEW – El Tequileño Reposado Gran Reserva Tequila

NOM 1108 (Lot GRX19-010223; bottled 19 October 2023)- The initial nose has a solid ethanol hit, but also cinnamon/nutmeg/sweet baking spices/cooked agave aromas, some clove & unclear herbal note, vanilla, floral-fruity sweetness, & hints of sweet caramel on both the nose and the palate. These pleasant aromas become more prominent as the tequila opens up in the glass & bottle.

The mouthfeel is buttery & creamy. It has a peppery/spicy hit at the end with a relatively hot finish. The finish is mid-range, not short, while also not being that long. A pleasant sipper that continued to improve as it opened up more. A very nice, good value reposado that is additive free.

The natural sweetness & barrel aging notes of hints of sweet vanilla & caramel continue to become more prominent as the bottle continues to open up from the initial pour a week later. The peppery finish is still there, balancing out each sip. Delightful.

-Tasted using Riedel tequila flute glasses
