Reality – Quality, no additive tequila will still cause a hangover commensurate with how excessive your drinking of it is.

Yesterday, I saw a respected tequila brand share a post of a video with a non-MD/nurse saying just this – and to the brand’s credit, they kept in the part where the speaker said the best option was NO alcohol, but that tequila & “clear spirits” may be less bad than others. Unfortunately, most of the comments on the original post completely ignored that part. People with influence & reach shouldn’t perpetuate potentially harmful falsehoods.

No spirits, with or without additives, are a “health” product. Some are comparatively “better” (or less bad) than others, particularly for those with blood sugar & gluten issues. That doesn’t make them “healthy.”

And that’s fine – Let’s continue to enjoy whatever spirits we like most, agave spirits in my case, in moderation to mitigate as many of the negative effects of alcohol as possible. Let’s not delude ourselves into thinking we’re drinking something with any health benefits, though.

I love agave spirits & will continue to enjoy them in moderation. Not everything we love & enjoy has health benefits, and that’s fine. Everything in moderation, friends!
