The brand ArteNOM was founded by Jake Lustig, an American who grew up in Oaxaca. He partners with some of the most respected tequila master distillers & distilleries to produce unique expressions of blanco, reposado, & añejo tequila.
ArteNOM 1123 is a unique “historical blanco” tequila produced by master distiller Salvador Rosales Torres at NOM 1123, the renowned Tequila Cascahuin distillery located in El Arenal in Los Valles, Jalisco. An almost opaque lightest of light yellows, it is still a blanco. Its color comes from being rested for 21-28 days in a former brandy barrel used to store mezcal from Oaxaca, mimicking a technique sometimes used in the early twentieth century by tequila makers.
With aromas of roasted tropical fruits, cinnamon and baking spices, smoked pepper, mint, citrus, and butter, ArteNOM 1123’s flavor profile is defined by black pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, anise, mint, citrus, a vegetal quality, hints of smoke, nuts, and sweet potatoes. Bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV), this blanco is made from Blue Weber agaves steam roasted in brick ovens for 30 hours before having their sugars extracted with a roller-mill. It is then double distilled in copper and steel pot stills. Coming out of the still at 56% ABV, the proof is lowered with demineralized water.
