Bottles Brought to My Graduate Students’ Social: Life Has a Way of Working Things Out

My graduate students organized a conference group social event & I had to bring some special bottles to share because that’s at the heart of what spirits are all about & what I like most about them – sharing them with others in your life. After an awesome grad seminar, this was a fun event.

Life often has a way of working things out for the better. The Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bottled in Bond bottle was originally picked up for someone who asked me to keep an eye out for the “EHT line” of whiskies since their prices are close to MSRP here in VA and ridiculously high in his native MD. After picking him up the EHT Barrel Proof Bourbon & EHT Straight Rye, I picked up an EHT Small Batch for him. Long story short, he “changed his mind” and alleged that he’d “never asked me” to pick up the Small Batch & was “not buying” bottles for the foreseeable future – Both of those statements turned out to be untrue.

It took several months to realize he did me a favor & life took care of things – That same bottle is the one I shared with my graduate students today & the one that I’ll continue bringing to my students’ social events to continue sharing.
