Operation “Beyond Beam White Label” Continues – Full Proof & Double Oaked Edition

The sample sharing with my work colleague who loves Jim Beam White Label and Single Barrel continues. My “theme” of most, though not all, of these samples is to introduce him to cask finished bourbons, stave finished bourbons, and double oaked bourbons. I’ve also thrown in some straight bourbons not cask or stave finished or double oaked that I think he’ll enjoy. To his credit, he’s game to try new things.

One of the recent samples was 1792 Full Proof, a Virginia ABC Sazerac Barrel Select single barrel at 125 proof. It was my first (and currently remains) my hottest proof spirit tried to date. It’s taken a while, but my palate’s now able to move beyond the ethanol heat to pick up the lovely panoply of flavors underneath it. Again to his credit, my colleague soldiered through the first sample neat per my advice so he could see what it tastes like neat. While noting it was hot, he’s said that he enjoyed the flavors. I’m sharing two more samples with him so he can experiment with ice and drops of water to see how that changes the 1792 Full Proof. I’m looking forward to hearing his observations and about his experiences in furthering his bourbon journey.
