Lost Lore & Nonna’s Sunday Sauce: Symbolic End to 6 Weeks of Pointlessness & Meanspiritedness

Lost Lore, one of my favorite blanco tequilas, in a Riedel Ouverture Tequila flute glass (one of my 2 favorite agave spirits glasses alongside Denver & Liely’s Mezcal Glass – the 2 best glasses for highlighting aroma profiles) as I sear/seal off meatballs for my late Nonna’s Sunday Sauce tomorrow (it saves a lot of time to do this the day before cooking the sauce for hours).

My Italian grandmother was one of the most important & influential people in my life. She was a vibrant soul & a true firecracker.

I didn’t plan on cooking her Sunday Sugo (sauce) today but decided to do so on a whim this morning – going to a Wegmans & Safeway to get the necessary ingredients (leaving Wegmans with a sub-$100 grocery bill was a small miracle).

This is a symbolic closing to one of the absolute s****iest 6 weeks in my life thus far. Pointless. It’s helped clarify how some folks should be classified in life, which was valuable if also unpleasant. (And the next person who tells me we were all “off” for the Abrahamic 40+ days gets spit in the face).

I love Lost Lore’s green, vegetal/grassy & herbal notes (green olives, fresh herbs) that meld with the sweetness of cooked Blue Weber agave & baking spices, tropical citrus fruit, salinity (olive brine), mint, & black pepper.

Produced by maestro tequilero Sergio Cruz at Vivanco & Associates.
