Produced at distillery Autentica Tequilera (NOM 1502) located in Los Valles, Jalisco by master distiller José Valdez, Tequila Partida uses Blue Weber agave that is at least 6-years-old and is bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). The agaves are cooked in low-pressure autoclaves for 24 hours and the aguamiel is extracted using a roller mill before being fermented using natural yeast in stainless steel tanks. The tequila is 2x-distilled in stainless steel pot stills. The añejo is aged for around 18 months in ex-Jack Daniel’s American White Oak barrels shipped within 10 days of being dumped (Partida only uses barrels for 3-4 years, so the oak notes are more prominent). The brand’s metal neck medallion is of an Aztec “spirit bird, an eagle (cuauhtli).
The lote (batch) under review is TPA-208-LA and the brand uses a great artificial cork that forms a snug seal.
This review is based on multiple separate notes-taking sessions over 7½ months using Denver & Liely Mezcal & Riedel Tequila flute glasses.

COLOR: Darker gold
AROMA PROFILE: Dried tropical fruits, baking spices (sweet cinnamon, nutmeg), caramel & fruity butterscotch, vanilla, oak/barrel notes, the same vegetal note from the reposado (a green bell pepper &/or green jalapeño pepper – mesocarp, not the seeds), black pepper, orange peel, maple or dark honey mixed w/tropical fruit & baking spices.
PALATE: Led by deep, oaky caramel/butterscotch & baking spices, dried tropical fruits, the green notes from the nose, black pepper – prominent oak tannin bitterness starts the finish before balancing with the sweet & earthy, vegetal notes.
FINISH: 6-7 seconds
MOUTHFEEL/VISCOSITY: Medium viscosity in the glass & a medium-creamy mouthfeel; a creaminess is pronounced even on the nose.
VALUE: Excellent, budget-friendly, unique, & delicious
ALWAYS ON SHELF/BUY AGAIN? Yes – I always buy a couple reserve bottles (if needed) when it goes on sale in my market (but it’s definitely worth the regular price of $50).
