Agave Spirits+ Journey

Happy National Margarita Day, folks!

I prefer almost all of my spirits neat at room temperature & today is no different, though I do enjoy the occasional margarita.

Casa Azul Orgánico Tequila Reposado & Casa Azul Orgánico Tequila Blanco in the best glass for capturing agave spirits’ aroma profiles, Denver & Liely’s Mezcal Glass.

I very much enjoy the reposado’s balanced flavor profile which mixes cooked agave/baking spices, fruit, herbal notes, minerality, oak, anise, & a mix of caramel & vanilla. It’s become a recent regular sipper after I took a flyer on it while it’s on big sale in my local market – I’ve even picked up some reserve bottles.

The blanco is good, though its flavor profile doesn’t match my personal preferences, particularly because the prominent anise “bitterness” notes (which I like in my blanco tequilas), to me, aren’t as well/seamlessly integrated with the other flavors as I usually like. There’s no denying that it’s well made just like the reposado, though, & also like two other great brands made by the producing distiller/tequilero & agave rancher/agavero Montes family, 123 Organic Tequila from master distiller David Ravandi & Don Abraham Tequila.
