NOM 1414 –
Immediately upon opening the bottle, the aromas that hit strongest were olive/olive brine/salinity, vegetal and herbal/grassy notes, a wet stone earthiness, minerals, and alcohol. After these came cooked agave sweetness with cinnamon and baking spices, pepper, citrus and fruit notes, and mint (like a spearmint). I let the neck pour open up in a Riedel tequila flute glass for 25-30 minutes to allow some of the stronger aromas dissipate a bit and the other underlying aromas reveal themselves.
On the palate, it is sweeter than the initial nose suggests, leading on the flavor spectrum with cooked agave sweetness with cinnamon and baking spices, vegetal/herbal notes, citrus, and fruit sweetness that reminds me somewhat of a tropical fruit that is sweet and also a bit citrusy/acidic (like a pineapple, but the specific fruit remains somewhat amorphous).
Sweetness leads at the beginning of the sip and continues until just before the swallow when pepperiness takes over with sweetness lingering in the background. The vegetal/herbal/grassy and olive/brine/salinity and minerality/wet stone/earthiness hang out in the background of the sip and after the swallow. There is some anise-like bitterness and herbal qualities to the vegetal flavors.
The finish is a bit peppery and short. The flavors, which are quite nice, don’t remain on the palate that long after the swallow. Lost Lore blanco has a nice body/viscosity and coats the glass well with nice tears/legs and pearls remaining on the side of the glass after a swirl.
This is a nice sipping blanco with a well-rounded flavor profile defined by a good marriage of agave and fruit sweetness, pepper, and vegetal/herbal/anise notes. It makes for a clean sip that makes you wanting to dive back in for another.
[Tasted using a Riedel tequila flute glass, my favorite glass for tasting tequila & getting the fullest aromas.]

[…] Lost Lore, a new tequila brand produced by NOM 1414 – Vivanco & Associates distillery in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico, uses mature Blue Weber agaves cooked in stone/brick ovens (hornos), with the sugars (aguamiel) extracted using roller mills, fermented with champagne yeast as classical music plays (the “Mozart Method”), double distilled in copper pot stills, & cut to 80 proof (for the regular blanco) using deep well water. The finished tequila is then put into handmade glass bottles with rather striking artwork on its label (and also on the bottles of the reposado and añejo). […]
