NEW BOTTLE HIGHLIGHT SERIES: Knob Creek Blender’s Edition – Batch 1 (10 Year) Bourbon

My first Knob Creek whisky bottle – Blender’s Edition – Batch 1 (10 Year) Bourbon:

I’ve had pours of Knob Creek’s shelf-stable bourbons and rye whiskies on several occasions and haven’t loved them. In general, the toasted peanut nuttiness and very charred oak-forward Beam profile isn’t my preferred bourbon flavor profile.

Though my favorite Beam bottle that I’ve had (and own a bottle of) is the Winter Reserve toasted double oaked bourbon, the Blender’s Edition Batch 1 is probably on par with Baker’s 7 bourbon single barrel bottles that I’ve tried/had.

The Blender’s Edition has that classic Beam profile – toasted peanuts/nuttiness and very prominent toasted oak with barrel char, but these notes are balanced out by prominent caramelized wood sugars and vanilla mixed with lighter caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, and rye spice & black pepper.

I need to spend more time with this before I form a definite opinion, but I can say that I don’t regret picking up a bottle of this for, even after tax, under $48.
