International Women’s Day – Cheers to All the Women Shaping Tequila Today

Cheers & respect to all of the women who make the tequila industry run!

These are some of the bottles that introduced me to the craft tequila world:

*Mijenta was the very 1st craft tequila brand that I tried & it continues to be one of my all-time favorite brands. I’ll take a flyer on any new bottle that master distiller/blender Ana María Romero and her team are involved in. Mijenta’s reposado, especially the earlier batches, are in my top 3 favorite reposados.

*The rich new French Oak barrel-aged flavor profile of my 1st single barrel, higher proof version of San Matías Gran Reserva Extra Añejo from distillery Casa San Matías was a revelation and I’m glad to have stocked reserve bottles so I can continue to share it with other people and enjoy it myself. The distillery is helmed by two remarkable women, owner Carmen Villarreal & master distiller/blender Rocío Rodríguez.

*El Tesoro, now headed by master distiller Jenny Camarena & formerly by her and Carlos Camarena was one of the first craft blanco and reposado tequila bottles that I bought – I loved them both from the very start & El Tesoro remains one of my regular tequila pours & one of my favorite tequila brands.

Cheers to all the women who continue to shape the tequila & non-tequila mezcal industry, every day but especially today!
