Success – the final optional bottle share social of Academic Year 2026 resulted in cross-spirits category tastings and lots of good conversation amongst a small group from a larger group on a staff ride.
The final bottle lineup was mostly determined by student votes with some additions of my own:
*Tequila Ocho Añejo – Corralillos estate vintage
*Tequila Ocho Reposado – Tierras Negras estate vintage
*Don Fulano Añejo Tequila
*Virginia Distillery Co. Cigar Blend First Cut American Single Malt Whisky
*Old Fitzgerald 7 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
*Fortaleza 46 Still Strength Blanco Tequila (lote 33-S)
*Fortaleza Reposado Tequila (lote 127-R)
*Fortaleza Añejo Tequila (lote 76-A)
*Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond 7 Year Bourbon
I used one of my new Aged & Ore Bottle Caddy bags, which I love and are super useful for bottle shares. I also brought Denver & Liely Mezcal, Bourbon, and Whisky glasses as well as Glencairn copita glasses.
I also gifted a Denver & Liely Mezcal glass to a student to continue their agave spirits tasting journey – they went from tequila shots to noting down their own tasting notes in just a year.

Damage was done to multiple bottles amidst some great conversations and cigars on a cool late spring evening. Sharing is how spirits are best enjoyed.
